I bought one of those LCD TVs today, a 32" Toshiba.

I've read the manual but the set's still in it's box in the living room. I'm scared of it

My parents went through this phase with a washing machine they bought where they didn't actually use it for a few days  so I showed them that the manual wasn't really necessary.

What people usually dislike about tvs it the huge number of inputs on modern tvs. That said it's better than it used to be, I've seen tvs not so long ago that were labelled inputs 1-5 rather than the names.

Look on the bright side SJ...you got to the second fence. I usually fall at the first one. The print in the instruction manual is so small that I am completely unable to read it.

The mistake you've made is reading the instructions first. you should never do that, it only complicates things. you should only read the instructions when all else fails... or if it's an airfix model.

Leave it to the kids to work out, I was always amazed at how my two kids could always find things that I never new existed like little drop down panels with controls inside to adjust settings etc. Little hands get everywhere

Getting older and new technology, eh? I found someone's TV remote in my rucksack and I've no idea where it came from. I did do a bit of house-to-house Christmas card delivery on the bike. I only hope I didn't pick up my daughter's mother's remote on Christmas Day, because removing someone's TV remote on Christmas Day is not a good thing to do. Especially if it's your ex.

New technology?

What a load of nonsense!!

When I want to take a photograph picture - I use a camera stick to etch it into some clay.

When I want to listen to music - I put a CD on listen to someone singing.

When I want to make a phone call speak to someone far away- I use a telephone travel to them and speak to them.

When I want to read - I read a (proper) book the etchings someone else made in the mud.

Life doesn't have to be complicated.

Eazy Peazy Lemon Squeezy!!!
;)
Although, using a stick is still a bit complicated, might be easier to use your finger.

Its probably why walking sticks have never altered much over the years with technology, its the older generation that mainly use them
