I've often made the point that taking the lane will, in some circumstances, lead to abuse and problems. Many motorists will simply see you as a rolling obstruction when in primary and will not understand that you are riding in this position for safety reasons.

+1 as well...

We can get bogged down in the details of my previous post...its easy to pick up on a poor choice of words, but ultimately, experience shows me that taking primary is not a panacea for all the problems we all face on the road.
Use it wisely, use it carefully...and then there's no guarantee.

i was doing them a favour, they were obviously oblivious to my presence so I was just making them aware, you know for safety.

I think that is a fair comment, I do the same sometimes.

Again, I'm not sure anyone's claimed that primary is a fix-it-all solution, but it's certainly a useful tool against tools in some situations.
