Getting rid of the slip

Spin out in the Peak today and on a steep section the rear wheel slipped each peddle stroke. I was standing and the road was dry (but very steep). What's the suggested solution (in the end I got off but I will not be beaten next time).

Sometimes it is better to keep your weight on the back wheel and not come to far forward over the bars when you are out of the saddle. It can give you more traction.

Ah, I was one of the 6 riders about to go down it at the junction of The Cat and Fiddle road.

Could try shifting weight back a little, but could also be the tyres you have just aren't very grippy.

That's the Lamaload climb.Short and sharp lungbuster at least 1:4 probably worse. Going down it is fun but we were being careful today as we had come across ice on one or two of the descents where we had been riding and coming off at 40 plus is going to hurt. You need to pick the right gear to go up it and if you are wheel slipping move your weight back a little. If you move your weight too far back though you can end up with the front wheel lifting off the ground. It is a bit of a balancing act.

Yup it's slippy. Had rear wheel slide on a warm day in summer. It's also a bit hairy coming down. One of the Macc Wheelers guys smashed his leg up very badly coming down there a few years ago.

Just have to keep the power even.

On the Kentish Killer I was getting quite a bit of wheel spin some times you just have to sit down and curb your enthusiasm
