Wow that's interesting. I notice that in the photos it's sheltering under the wng of my other "most beautiful" aircraft, a Consolidated Catalina, the distinctive wing pylon and struts visible in two shots. I think a flight in either aircraft would be a huge thrill.

One thought that occurs to me: the rivetted aluminium construction looks very similar to the bodywork of the 1986 Land Rover 90 that we used to own. That it was ex-MOD and painted in the same matt green reinforces the similarity. The proper square Land Rover was of course developed in 1948 to use up surplus stocks of Birmabright aircraft aluminium and built using techniques then current in aircraft manufacture.
