I wonder what is the diameter of the axles where they are clamped to the uni-fork(s)? I appreciate a pedal axle is only attached at one end and is subject to large forces, but the vibration and forces on the wheel axles will be the same as a 'standard fork' bike, but cantilevered off one fork.

Had a Halfway some years back that was 'dumped' on my by the GLW because she didn't like the handling.
I sold it a couple of years later for the same reason and now have a Brompton M3 with which I am well pleased. ^_^
Interesting that it's very rare to see a Halfway anywhere now.

It shouldn't be remarkable to see single sided wheel attachments. After all, the meanest four wheel vehicle that goes has four of them. It's probably more to do with weight, and the additional costs of producing something light enough but is still strong and durable enough with a human powered two wheeler. You see them on trikes. Even my vintage Honda motorbike has a single sided rear suspension arm, enclosing a drive shaft. Rear wheel removal is easy peasy. Even the brake disc stays in place with the wheel out.

Its all subjective I think my halfway rides well rode a 3 speed Brompton but only round the block Not impressed, maybe if I would have rode it for a week I might have changed my opinion!

I had a Giant Halfway which i took to Nigeria some years ago.
It was hammered around an oil terminal 20km/day 180 days/yr for 8 years in all weather. (getting on 30k km's)
Apart from chains/sprockets and other minor maintenance items it stood up amazingly well.
(the hinge was getting a bit loose towards the end though :>)

Bike seems ok but I have been unhinged for some time

I just picked one up but it didn't come with the carrier.
Would anyone know where I could pick one up?

I took the one of a Raleigh Evo folder and it fits perfectly and I suspect many others fitted on any 20" wheel folder would fit.
