More bang for your buck with the Ribble though.

The Defy 4 is kitted out with Claris 8 speed the Ribble is 9 speed Sora but the list price is £50 less. Quick play on the bike builder and you could spec the Ribble with full Tiagra 10 speed for similar money to the Defy. Just saying.

Are you buying a group set or a bike ? Just saying

Well last time I checked the groupset is a fairly integral part of the bike. As is the frame and the wheels. You can now tell me about how wonderful the Defy 4 frame is.

I cant comment on the Ribble but i will say that after i got my Defy 2 a couple of weeks ago i have no regrets. Its a great bike and a pleasure to ride. As far as im aware the Defy 4 is the same but with a different groupset. My old bike had Claris and it was perfectly adequate and not massively different, in terms of performance, from the Tiagra i have now. I suppose both will do the job well so go with whichever one you like the look of... If you are anything like me you will probably end up upgrading groupset/wheels at some point anyway.

I love Giants. I have owned Trek, Specialized, Kinesis, Pinarello, Marin, Raleigh, Focus road bikes at various times - My Giants beat the lot.
I now have 3 - My Sunday Bike is a TCR which replaced the wonderful Defy Advanced I had for 3 years.....My Audax Bike a TCX ...... My Winter/Trail Bike is a new Revolt. Each one has been superb. A close friend has a Defy 2 which he loves - he previously rode a Trek.
I am sure that Ribble make a decent bike, but you simply can't go wrong with Giants..
My other bike is a Charge Juicer - also very nice but needed a lot of changes to get it just right..
