Hi All,

I need to your help. I am planning to buy a bicycle next week.

I like Giant Roam 3. But my height is 160 cms. (1.6 meters) or 5 feet and 3 inches only. Is it good for my height? Or should I buy Giant ATX 27.5?

Depends on the frame size. If you buying from a local bike shop they will advise you on this.

I looked on the giant frame size chart. The smallest size available for ROAM is 5 feet and 4 inches. I am only 5 inches and 2 1/9 inches. ATX 27.5 has sizes for the 5 feet and 2 inches in relation to leg inside length.

I'm 5' 10" - 5' 11" and have a size large Roam, some may prefer the medium. Small or extra small may suit you better. It's a good bike.

The Roam is not a full mountain bike but a hybrid.

I am thinking of buying Roam because most of the time I am in the road. But there is no XS for Roam. XS is for 5 foot and 3 inches and below. My inseam height is 26.5 inches.

Best bet is to sit on a small and try it, you should know whether it's right that way. Giant size guide suggests I would need a medium but large is perfect for me.

Have you looked at the women's versions, there should be a smaller version if the smallest men's is too big. You might find the design too girly but have a look

I am 5.11 and have a Roam in Medium and fits me perfectly, just goes to show how bike fit is such a personal thing. Best thing to do is to go to the shop and have a sit on one.

The Roam is an excellent bike by the way!

. Yeah. I must ride it to see. Other option I have is buy the female version "ROVE" as suggested by Vickster. I am thinking of looking at the Rove. Guys, what do you think?

Have you looked at similar bikes from other brands, trek, Whyte, specialized, Merida, all do a variation on a hard tail hybrid

If you can't get the right sized bike in one brand, look at one of the myriad others

Another thing, how many months will the hydraulic disc brakes start to be showing signs of wear and tear?

Depends how many miles you do, weather conditions, where the bike lives. I've done over a thousand mostly dry miles on my Whyte over a couple of years and there's no wear

We only have the Giant, Cannondale and GT brands in our place. I found Giant is reasonably priced.
