A crash happened near the finishing and I noticed the timing for the GC remained unaffected. How does the timing add up for GC contenders in such situation when they were behind the crash scene and unable to finish in good timing.

Not here offten enough to argue

If a crash happens inside the last 3kms - all riders involved or stuck due to the crash get the same time

If a crash occurs in the last 3km then all finishers are awarded the same time.

Did anyone else see the poor bugger on the ground, with his arm turned round the wrong way?

Knocked me sick it did...crash apparently caused by either a long camera lens or an out of line barrier foot.

Bertie was taken down as part of the crash too, he didn't look too happy on the podium, couldn't put the pink jersey on.

Never nice to see crashes at those speeds.

No spoiler in this thread title. No more than if it were entitled "someone has puncture during today's stage". Nor is the stage winner named.

Was there more than one crash ?
Probably. there usually is. I only saw the highlights though.

There's one potentially spoilery post in this thread, but you would have to want to be starved of absolutely all information to have your viewing spoilt.

I didn't read until I had watched the race - the title left me in no doubt that a crash was coming at some point. But no worries, it's no big deal. :okay:

There is a sub forum to discuss Pro Racing with clear "spoilers" alerts - this includes things that happen in stages not just results.
e.g "Cav falls off his bike" would be a clear spoiler title, although I am not so sure about "Giro crash at stage 6".

Anyway, if you are interested in Pro Cycling come on over to the sub forum and join in - new people always add to it.

Tks for info.

To those guys which felt its a spolier, I'm sorry. Never thought of it and didn't intend to. Hope the title didn't give anything away.

Little discussion of it here from the ever helpful inner ring: http://inrng.com/2011/07/the-3km-rule-explained/
Tks for the link but don't quite able to figure out certain rules.

If Rider A is leading the GC (say 6 hrs) and he had a mechanical failure within 3km but still finished after changing bike and clock 4 hrs for this stage (meaning a cumulative of 10hrs), but meanwhile Rider B previous GC was behind rider A (say 6 hr. 1 min) but this stage he clocked 3 hrs 50 min, meaning Rider B would have over taken Rider A. How does the GC stand?
