It sounds as if I am missing a really good Giro.
Misfortune befalls Roglic on a crucial stage. He remains a bad luck magnet, poor soul.
All change again in the GC which seems wide open except…..
UAE could strangle the race in the 3rd week. 2 different Maglia Rosa by what would normally be the first rest day.

Oh and any thoughts on how Trek used Vacek today?
I read that he bridged to the lead group, but then I saw him being brought back to pull for Ciccone.
Imo, if he could have won, he should have been given the free role he was supposed to have.
I can’t see the point of saving a few seconds for not just Ciccone, but Ayuso, Carapaz, Tiberi etc.

It was weird ....he was about the only rider who could bridge groups ....but wrecked himself doing it . I guess the idea was he would bridge to del Toro WvA and bernal ...then drop them for the win .... He fell back to the ciccone group in the end .

He wouldn't have won as he would have been dropped in the final climb. Clearly would have got 3rd and ruined my PTP.
Did help Ciccone though which I guess counts for more than bottom step of the podium to the team. "Guess" being operative.

He was given the free role, used it to bridge but got dropped, so he sat up and waited for the GC group with Ciccone where he worked to put time into Roglic.

“I was feeling super good today. When I made it to the break there was only a few km that I could recover and then Del Toro started attacking and it was a bit too much for me, but I could make it back on one of the kicks. On the last sector they went full gas and I got dropped with Bernal. I waited for the group of Cicco and pulled full gas for him to make a big gap to Roglič.” – Mathias Vacek.
