Del Toro is certainly making great progress from winning dl'Avenir in 23.
Also Pellizzari making good progress

The arc of history curves towards pellizari

Bardet: "Del Toro took the corners like a criminal. The road started to get wet: it was really impressive. He took 5 meters and it was over" (Sporza)

He was cornering so aggressively. Yet, for some reason, the editor wanted to show slow-motion shots of them cresting the hill rather than him clearly putting Carapaz under pressure on the descent.

Some racer this kid. Looked dead and buried yesterday and again earlier in this stage. I think the MTF will possibly stop him taking the overall but not a bad debut!

There isnt one left is there? Not a proper one anyway. Friday & Saturday are brutal but one finishes after a descent and the other is 8 KM at under 4%.

I personally suspect he is using too many bullets and he will come unstuck over the four big climbs on Friday.

Yates & Carapaz would naturally be favourites still, but they both have demons to deal with on Saturday.

Tomorrow looks a bit meh.
I want more thrills!

Plenty more to come with Stage 19/20. As predicted by the Lantern Rouge route review the Mortirolo climb had an impact but wasn't decisive because it came in the middle on today's stage. It will be fatigue rather than difficult climbs that will trouble for Del Toro. Will be a fascinating battle between S.Yates, Carapaz & Del Toro.

Not surprised by Bernal dropping out the top 10. He's never been quite as good as his pre-crash form.

I'm still just happy to see him back and being competitive. It's been a long road for him
