Yes Froome ended up putting 3min ish into Carapaz, Dumoulin, Pinot and Lopez, but most of that was those 4 and other chasers not wanting to do the work to chase back the initial small gap / wanting to wait for the odd domestique to help.... Froome just created the gap over the gravel section and then got his head down on the descent and remaining kms. He'd also set up an army of team Sky with fuel for him at key points, which Dumoulin and co probably hadnt.

Yates was almost 40 mins back just ahead of the Autobus, having cracked well before Froome took off IIRC

Iirc Yates was there as ellisonde was on the front firing it up last wheel before froome went .... Froome extended his lead on the final climb

Will visma work enough?

exactly, they wont be remotely interested in setting in Kooijjiojio, keeping their powder dry to help SY Fri & Sat.

The Yates lost touch near the foot of the finistre climb, Froome created his gap to the rest at the start of the gravel much further up the climb using Ellisonde as a a launchpad, and then kept extending it on every section thereafter....

Do we think? When Froome/Sky went long, he did most of the damage the other side of the Finestre. I think his advantage over the top was about 30 seconds. Not to be sniffed at, but he wasn't minutes clear of Dumoulin et al. Obviously Yates lost huge time there but that was probably as much down to him cracking as Froome attacking.
dumoulin and pinot were so smashed at the top of the finestre. They waited for reichenbach . It was a error imo ,. But I think froome would have won anyway

Pinot wanted to wait for Sébastien Reichenbach for some help in the valley, so they did. Unfortunately Reichenbach descended at snail's pace, so they lost buckets of time and it was pretty much all over bar the shouting.

Yates paid for hanging around at the back. When Sky started drilling it those hairpins amplify the gaps and accelerations required as you get further back. By the time kit stretched back to where Yates was he was having to close gaps each corner

You all have such fantastic recall of that Froome attack. I can remember some things about it for sure - but what detail can I recall? I can remember that I was renewing my car insurance that day and I was on the phone to the insurers about something or other while it was happening. And that it was when the giant inhaler made an appearance. Something wrong with my brain,
