Arensman says it's his head. He gets stressed out at the beginning of the race and ends up having a really bad day.
He also crashed on stage 16 while in 9th.

You all have such fantastic recall of that Froome attack. I can remember some things about it for sure - but what detail can I recall? I can remember that I was renewing my car insurance that day and I was on the phone to the insurers about something or other while it was happening. And that it was when the giant inhaler made an appearance. Something wrong with my brain,
It gets talked about a lot in the intervening years I guess
Yes. Though the Reichenbacher debate was very much a feature of the race thread as it happened. But it was one of those days where everyone (apart from @Dogtrousers, apparently) stopped what they were doing to watch and comment
I heard the other that it wouldn't be possible these days for Sky to do the regular feeding aid due to the new feed zone regs
Yeah, I've no idea what the thinking behind the new regs is, but the nutrition - and the hi-viz of the helpers - was a key to the day. The hi-viz is banned now as well I believe.

The suggestion was that it levelled the playing field for smaller teams unable to provide so many helpers, swannees etc on the route
Remember meeting Froome on the morning of the TT in Roveretto...he was reckoning the course and I was hanging over the barriers dying of a hangover 🤣You all have such fantastic recall of that Froome attack.
