Jonas has fallen off in training trying to drop some amateur on a descent and then threw his toys out of the pram... apparently no-one is supposed to ride near him.

Like anyone else, you should always ask if you're going to try and sit in someone's wheel, and like most big name pro cyclists, he probably gets dickheads following him around all the time. Perfectly entitled to give someone the sharp edge of his tongue imo.

As expected Unibet Rose Rockets get the wild card for the Giro as Cofidis say non-merci to their mandatory invite.
Barmy Army and Polti also take a start.

I can’t wait for velo games & I can lick Adam’s salty tears when he’s slipping down the table. 🤣

Landa's also backed out: who's going to lose with panache© now?

It's a very weak field so far, with perhaps Jai Hindley and Adam Yates the pick of the rest, unless someone like Jan Christen comes of age, but it's hard to see anyone coming near Vingegaard and it'll be even more of a procession than when Pogacar rode it.

Yup they're going to have to hope that Polti and Barmy Army pull some polemica out of a hat or rely on some Unibet Rose Rockets for some forced bants.

Would be really nice if Yates could bag his first, and probably only GC - he's not long won O Gran Camino, although I have no idea what competition he had, but he must be in reasonable shape, and has been very consistent in recent years as a hard working domestique.
I think to have a chance he'd need Jonas to be hobbled in some way, and he'd have to be a designated No1 within the team early on.

That's Carapaz out now too after having had a cyst 'down there' removed.

From what I'm hearing, the remaining contenders will be allowed in a breakaway at Blockhaus to form a guard of honour as Vingegaard climbs to kill the GC as a meaningful contest at the first opportunity. After that the race will be treated as a series of 1 day events. Not sure if Challenge Mallorca rules apply.

Is the Giro being relegated to a "bucket list experience" for Tour de France winners to who once in their careers?

(Bookmarking this for "that aged badly" in three weeks.)

Not sure about bucket list, but if you've won the other two GTs already adding the Giro would put you in a club that currently only has 7 riders in it - all of them at least near-legendary. So I reckon it's worth having a pop at it.

For Vingegaard there's the added bonus that if he wins this year he'll be a member before Pogacar
