There was a piece in the Liverpool Echo a few weeks back interviewing local Deliveroo riders. All seemed decent young people trying to earn a crust in a hostile environment.
The comments section online was poisonous! All cyclists go through red lights. Don't pay road tax. Shouldn't be on the road....etc. Things will never change while the whole infrastructure is geared for motor vehicle use. We are seen as just objects that get in the way.

Trouble is I get this all the time in the messroom at work and it's got so bad im now ignoring the brain dead ones who take some pleasure of ganging up on a lone cyclist and going through the same old bullshit again.

I wont discuss or defend as we are just going round in circles again and again.Road Tax/Insurance/Helmets/Too dangerous and all the other bullshit...well done.Halfwits.

Oh did I miss out red light jumpers whilst the motorist behind is happily playing with his/her phone.

I can't.If you know old school stuff on the railways you'd probably know that is not such a good idea.Got to live with it,that's the way it goes.
What did I get called the other week by a certain individual...Oh yeah a Nazi cyclist.
Some of it is obviously there to cause upset...Another one (an ex cabbie) goes on about how he will run over cyclists...I just ignore it as they just want a reaction.

At least silly cyclists generally get themselves hurt. Silly vehicle drivers cause great harm.

A silly careless driver snapped my spine in half just over a year ago.

There are idiots everywhere.

Anyway I'm getting out the popcorn to see how this thread deteriorates

is that a specific red bus or more general. I have cycled a lot in London and generally they are very patient
A number of routes. Example last week, I had a 413 driving moron (my local route) turn right straight cross me (i was in car, going straight on) at light controlled crossroads. I got a mouthful and abusive gestures when I hooted him for trying to drive through me. Was going to report but didn't get number and would have been hard to confirm which bus.
Commonly overtaken on bike for bus to then pull in almost immediately at a stop, often without indication. Obviously first time out on the route, or new to the concept of buses stopping at bus stops ;)
Also been hooted at and shouted at to get on the shared path around here.

They might be better in central London possibly as the traffic is rarely free flowing. There you have to look out for black cab drivers instead who are as bad!

You've forgotten the most egregious occasion, on our monopoly ride. Three of us were waiting at the ASL here near Liverpool Street Station, when a double decker bus pulled up behind us, then without waiting for a green light, swung into the opposite lane to overtake us and do a right hand turn against a fully red light. And he would have been fully committed to the turn before he could see if there was any traffic coming along London Wall. It would have been a ballsy move for any vehicle, but when it's a two storey bus, it's terrifying.

I find "well that's not my fault, now is it?" shuts these conversations down pretty quickly. If not, then a follow-up with "is it your fault that some motorists drink and drive?" does the trick.
