Is it too late to join in?

I drink waaaaay too much. Wine every evening, at least two large glasses and often three or four. Comes on for close to a bottle sometimes. Shudder to think how much I'm spending.

Nope, it's never too late!
Climb aboard :becool: Just got a text from the woman who was round with us last night and she consumed a whole bottle of red (as I would have normally done too) and she has woken-up with the same realisation.

Sober is the new pi55ed!

Oh I have that realisation in the middle of the night when I can't sleep with a painful head, dry mouth and hotter than Mordor. Usually by the following evening I'm not longer quite so convinced by the idea.

Any tips?

I found soon after quitting that I was no longer waking-up several times a night with a dry mouth, I was neeing to drink at least a pint of water a night... and then needing to wake for a leak too. Now the pint glass is still ful when I wake and (now the insomnia's going) I'm now pretty-much sleeping through, which is a new sensation!

The evenings are difficult, I have found that something lip-smaking tasty is needed to help quell the desire for the red. Fresh ground strong coffee is now my treat post dinner and something like a Tomato juice with WS or a Tonic water with Ice and lemon both just hit the spot when I come in from work. Otherwise... keep busy or change your evening routine to break the habit. Good luck!

I slept soundly last night as well  (as smug a smiley as I could find)...

And my outside water pipes are frozen so I could not get a drink of water if I had been dry...which I wasn't

It would be nice to have some running water as I might have to start using the cans of lager and bottles of wine to wash in before too long :becool:

Yep, same here (although I still seem to drink gallons of squash of an evening).

I'm not finding it too bad at the moment, but then I'm rather busy so don't get time to think about it. Not having any booze in the house is a definite help, and not having any money to buy it just tips the scales in my favour

The other thing I've noticed is how much faster I wake up. I've never really been a hangover person, but even after a glass or two of wine I would always feel like I was 'coming round' of a morning rather than waking up.

No I still have that problem...probably related to radiotheraphy in the mid 1990's.

I don't miss the booze and realise I should have done this when I was being treated in the 1990's.

So far, drinks I've found that 'hit the spot' are:

Tonic water
Tomato Juice with lots of Worcestershire/Tabasco as appropriate
Lime and soda
Very strong Ginger beer, +/- lime
Cobra and Becks zero alcohol beers are OK
Strong real coffee

Starting to feel good, 1 week down!
