Hi Guys

This is not an April Fools joke!!

Recently my saddle has been slowly lowering whilst riding. It's tightened using a quick-release bolt. But I've noticed that the mounting (part of the frame where the post slots into) is looking a bit metal fatigued. This bike is over 25 yo and owes me nothing. But I'd like to keep it until other stuff wears out.

My question is, can I use some epoxy (metal to metal) to glue in the post, bearing in mind the clamp does 99% of the job anyway? Will it work?

Use carbon assemble paste, which prevents the post from slipping without bonding it to the tube. Replacing the Q/R clamp with a conventional bolt would also help.

Yes, I'd use a jubilee clip on the post to take some of the stress off the clamp. Glue is a bit permanent!

Little update. Not been able to get to a shop as yet. But I actually cooking foil to enlarge the post and because it compresses when tightened, it appears to have worked. Well, when I say worked it has got me to work, so half of my 25 miles a day.
