+1. I routinely turn the volume off whenever any adverts come on nowadays - so much more tolerable.

I used to do that in the days when the Formula One was on ITV and they screened adverts during live races. The ads were especially galling then because they usually used F1 imagery to target the audience, and it always seemed like they were rubbing it in.

I hate adverts with a passion, and would happily pay double - no, treble - the license fee if it meant I never had to see another advert.

The BBC don't carry adverts:biggrin: however they seem to be increasingly going with the TV fad of self promotion, though no-one rivals Sky for this.

I think I saw one of this firms adverts today, it said you could save the price of a new pair of jeans by doing whatever.

Surely it meant a couple of expensive pairs of jeans. And a new pair of tyres.

Don't get me started on the 'Halifax' ones.........FFS what were they thinking.......... sack the marketing company.......sheesh...........

Why sack them?

They have the right idea. They've got a bunch of cyclists talking about Halifax on a pretty much unrelated cycle commuting forum.

Job done, I reckon!

Job done??? - in the sense that I'll not use Go Compare or Halifax because of their annoying advertising? Yes it sticks in the mind, well enough that I don't forget who's bugged me.
