Bah! I've had to admit that the bike was at the LBS.
long story short, I started with a nasty cold last night, but being a tough old bird thought I'd still manage the four miles uphill home
Went to catch bus, first bus was early and sailed past as I approached bus stop, waited 20 minutes for next bus, driver wouldn't let me on as I didn't have correct change.
Very grumpy I thought fine, I'll walk!
Half way there my cold started to make me feel very weak and feeble. I started to think that the four Mile ride uphill may be the end of me, so I rang OH to come and pick me up!
I have only admitted to brake pads though, not to adjustment!

Boo! Picked bike up on friday, didn't ride it over weekend. On way hone last night I thought "this seems like hard work today", got home, try to spin front wheel, find brake is rubbing LOTS and wheel wont spin at all!

Nice man at LBS is going to sort it out tomorrow, but seems OH may have been right, V brakes are an impossible nuisance!

There is a wee trick, Sara - now, if I can do this, anybody can: remove one of the wee nuts on the outside of the brakes, voila', no more rubbing brakes
I beg forgivingness from all proper mechanics on here btw:blush:

V-Brakes are great, but I do find mine drift out of adjustment more easily than other types.

I did loosen it half a turn which made the wheel spin a bit free-er, took it to the very nice LBS man today in my lunch hour and he had it sorted in a minute or two!

Have you fixed the brakes yet ? This is getting like the broken d-lock thread.
Aye, brakes are working properly now, however, yesterday morning I had a "chain off" situation, and now I have a slippy, jumpy chain. Think another secret visit is required.
