Lil. I don't think so. More the other way round.
I think going out for breakfast at a restaurant is. Not the concept of breakfast as a whole, that's very British.

I love going out for breakfast..... Over here it's definitely more of a done thing, and I'd say it's the best value meal of the day you can get. When I do retire, it will be one of my life's pleasures to eat out for breakfast once every week or two. It certainly is a slice of Americana when you find an old style diner. Here's one of my locals:

Does Wetherspoons count? Free coffee refills!

I’m there tomorrow as it happens. :hello:
Of course it counts.

Had some very welcome breakfasts there on touring trips. With one or two excellent pints of course. Oh the sinful pleasure.

Ps, if you don't like their sausages (they aren't great) they will swap for an extra portion of bacon.

I do like a Spoons brekkie. Sit at a table and use the phone app for table service. Marvellous.
Tis clever of course, but then not so clever you have to walk across the pub for the milk, which sort of destroys the point. And you can't order the real ales from the app anyway. I prefer to stroll to the bar and use their very civilised tasting facility.
When I can shake myself to get out early in the morning (not too often in the winter) I have a small bowl of porridge before I go then ride to a favourite cafe about an hour away where I treat myself to coffee and an eggs Benedict.

If my wife persuades me into early morning trips to the town centre shopping, part of the deal is always a full breakfast while she visits M&S.
Same here, @User43827, we have a Sunday morning social ride that always seems to head in the same direction to stop at the same café. Nice to have an incentive for a early start, when it's too early for cake.

Well, I may have to go out just for the sole purpose of having a breakfast.

A porridge breakfast at Wetherspoons is ideal for a pre-ride or mid ride slow release of carbo to fuel your efforts.

I see a lot of people carb loading in 'spoons - usually the liquid variety though...

I noticed that at our local 'spoons on Saturday evening. They used to just do it for filter coffee, but now they do unlimited refills of all types of coffee for £1.20!

We were in the one in Ilkley at the weekend, half the pub seemed to be queued up at the coffee machines. I suspect some people are spending half the day in there drinking coffee...

We love going out for breakfast - we tend to go Table Table which is kids eat free (so my kids get to have their fill) and all you can eat (so I get my fill as well), for £9 per adult you can certainly skip lunch and by 11 am everyone is free to go off and do their plans for the day.
Out for breakfast is definitely a thing and I ruddy love it.
