I'd avoid his cookbook, there is always something you've never heard of in his recipes (well the ones in the Grauniad anyway)
I had a look on Amazon, but at £18 a go I think I will look next time I'm in a bookshop and have a flick through before getting out my wallet. :okay:

I love Ottolenghis TV programmes.
Not seen any, I assume they are on a channel I can't get.

I'm doing slimming world at the moment - have lost nearly 2 stone. They have just brought out a veggie book for the first time ever! Saw this as a step in the right direction and shows people are interested more than ever.

Will have to look out for the programme above though, I miss watching a good cookery programme.

That's the best part of it though.

Here's some wonderful stuff that's part of our staple diet now;

Pomegranate mollasses,Date syrup,Turkish chilli flakes,Freekah,Za'taar and proper middle eastern tahini(or tahina) not the cypriot stuff.

Oh and the latter is loverly on sourdough bread toast with either pomegranate mollasses or date syrup;makes a yum post ride snack.

I've been eating Tahini on toast with Sunflower seeds and Soy sauce since the early 80s when I bought some to make my own Hoummous and a mate said to try it on toast.
I just find Yotam's recipes a bit 'up himself' and very Grauniad reader but I was taught how to cook North African food by a guy called Hanni who had a restaurant called Bar Es Salam in Leicester, Chinese food by a friend called Ton (he's half Chinese and comes from Venezuela) and Indian food by various friends/workmates over the years. I suppose that is one of the advantages of living in the most multi-cultural city in Great Britain.
The one style of cooking I wasn't that impressed with is traditional Scandanavian cookery which involved far too much pickled herring for my tastexx( but my ex who was from Finland wasn't that keen on it either but insisted I try it.

I have no idea. I eat what I fancy and seem to be OK...though I haven't been checked out for a while

What do you veggie (mostly vegan I think) folks do to keep your B12 levels correct? One of my veggie pals got quite deficient and had shots from the quack.

same here and never been flagged as an issue.

The vegan society have this advice for B12... https://www.vegansociety.com/resour...-minerals-and-more/vitamin-b12-your-key-facts
The only reliable sources of vitamin B12 on a plant-based diet are fortified foods and supplements.
and
Look for plant milks, yoghurts, breakfast cereals, spreads, yeast extracts and nutritional yeast products that are fortified with vitamin B12. For example, taking 300 ml of a fortified plant milk plus 30 g of a fortified breakfast cereal is a good meal to supply vitamin B12 (1.5 micrograms). Or try fortified yeast extract with fortified spread on whole-wheat toast, or macaroni with fortified nutritional yeast 'cheezy sauce'

this is also a useful read. https://www.vegansociety.com/resour...hat-every-vegan-should-know-about-vitamin-b12

Of course the situation is different for vegetarians as opposed to vegans.

I've given up on B12 and just concentrate on B17.....it's much more comfortable.

I prefer this B17. Contains iron too.

Pack it in Rocky or I'll tell Mrs R on you.

Anyway, just scoffed bean and mushroom fajitas, they were excellent, I think they may become part of my normal cooking habits. Just for @Sara_H we finished off a pot of Hummus too
