Are we going through a golden age of film? For many years I thought the cinema was dreadful, but in the last two or three years there have been quite a few decent films. There's even a couple of British films out at the moment I'd like to see. It seems almost as good as the early 70s.

I hope so because, sadly, I go to the pictures these days prepared to be under whelmed. And am rarely disappointed.

It's a very good time for Japanese and Korean film. French cinema is in good health, and the German industry is turning out some fine products. I'm not sure it's a particularly good time for Hollywood in terms of quality though...

The only movies I get to see nowadays are aimed at under 10s

I put that power rangers film from 95 I think it was made, we got it for my son when he was very young, with Ivan ooze in it, great fun

I've only seen 4 films at the cinema in the last 15 years but I believe the Japanese, Korean and the South Moluccan film industries are thriving:wacko:

I don't think we are. Indeed, far from it. If you look at Hollywood between (say) 1946 and 1962 the comparison is stark. Great stars, where now there are none, cinematography to die for where now there is only CGIs, and scripts that would bear reading out loud where now there is only brutishness.
