Played a bit in my distant past and wasn't that bad. But over time just lost interest.

However, my 11 yr old nephew is getting very good at the game and he'd won a place to go to see one day at the Ryder Cup at the Celtic Manor. So when I had a chance of free passes to the Welsh Open a few weeks back and he pleaded with me to take him along. Not a tournament like the Ryder cup but he was keen anyway.

Well I have to admit I was impressed with the course, the organisation and it did make me want to dig out the old clubs again to see just how bad I've become. Especially when you've promised a precocious 11 yr old you'll give him a game. Now where's that bag of tees gone..........

Not my thing, although I've never really played. But if you enjoy it, then the very best of luck to you. I'll just wait here in the clubhouse with a beer while you go off for a round.

tried it a few times but must admit I got bored with it very quickly so gave up and much prefer something more energetic, like cycling.
I think golf is like cricket, may be ok as a player but so boring to watch.

For middle aged old fogies like me of limited athletic ability and poor walking skills golf is an excellent form of excercise - I cycle because I do not walk well - I play golf partly because it improves my walking

And even worse to listen to. Radio 5 Live has been mostly wall to wall golf now for 4 days solid. Reckon the station boss must love golf but no ones' got the balls to tell him/ her it makes for sh*t radio. Serves me right for listening to crap radio stations I guess- been really enjoying the World Service instead though

Oh, cricket's fantastic to watch. I've never been a player, but there's very little to beat spending a sunny June afternoon at a village cricket ground, wandering around the boundary and occasionally doing that slow handclap thing whenever anyone does something spectacular on the field. I love it.

Well I'm certainly not finding it boring watching The Open, come on Darren!

Love watching Cricket as well,

2 months ago I wouldn't have thought watching cycling could be entertaining, but I'm loving the TDF, I think it helps if you can relate to those competing.

See, I find bicyle racing enormously dull to watch. Especially stage racing, which is basically just a load of blokes on bikes having stuff shouted in their ears by their managers.

Whether you like golf or not, who wouldnt wish Darren Clarke his success after the last few years he's had. A genuine nice guy in sport.
