You can get GPS trackers that are tiny and relatively cheap on Ebay from China. Only problem really is battery life, as they use a mobile phone circuit to report where they are, as well as the GPS to know where they are. Great for installing in a car where it can be wired into the big battery, but not sure how you'd keep one going on a bike.... seach for TK102

So many things infuriate me about that.

"This is Britains most prolific bike thief ... het was given a five month suspended sentence" Seriously, what the **** do yo have to do to get the full sentence?!! HE HAD NINETY FOUR OFFENCES TIC'D FFS!!!! If he got a mere hundred quid average for each bike he nicked, he's just made about ten grand and he gets released with NO custodial sentence.

Why did they blank out the face of the scum prepared to stand there and lie, despite being to,d he'd been caught on camera.

Why did they blank out the face of the kid who lied about having the bike for ages before admitting buying it for fifty quid. You don't have fifty quid to spare? Boo effing hoo, consider yourself lucky you aren't under arrest for handling, because that's what I want to do!

Someone make Swampyseifer ruler of the country all ready so he can invoke his idea of giving police Judge Dredd style powers. If it would be considered corruption to lock up those offenders using an exponential scale per stolen bike, then call me corrupt!

Must... breathe...

Lacking a pair of ninja-trained lycra warriors to stand guard over my bike, it seems to me that if the crims are seriously able to trot about in search of bikes with a 3 foot pair of bolt croppers, we're stuffed.

Wow- a real eye-opener! Thanks for sharing. Hate locking the bike up in public; although I always use the older, cheaper hybrid in these cases and never ride to work without secure parking on the premises.

Did find the program having a slight overly alarmist 'if you lock it up it's 100% going to be nicked' vibe. A little dubious about the two bikes they used as traps- I'd imagine they did this a few times, and on the other occasions the bikes weren't stolen. The film gives the impression it's a guarantee. It's enough to ensure I'm paranoid every time mine's locked up however… time to invest in rollerblades?

Amazed at how easy locks are to break.

Reckon more bike personalisation as a deterrent is the way forward. Guess even something like tape in places around the frame that'd be a ballache to take off or damage the paint. Whatever helps.

Must say I love the mass of police rugby tackling the thieves. Must've scared the s**t out of them!

Should cut a finger off every one they catch in the act.
Can't see them sticking two fingers up to the law for 5 mth suspended sentence after their 2nd arrest!
Agree and i'd use their very own cutters to do it .

Id never leave a decent bike chained in the street un-attended. I suppose I am lucky, I can park the bike in the warehouse where I work and keep an eye on. I would not commute to work by bike if it was any other way. I can remember when working in a mill 20yrs ago some guy had his new bike stolen which he parked in the building. They are an easy item to steal.....
