A bit breezy on the way in this afternoon - without trying I hit 38mph on the flat with the wind but only 1/3rd of that struggling into the wind on a parallel road 5 minutes later. Side winds and swirling gusts were vicious.

I was in one of the warehouses on Felixstowe Dock this afternoon when the rain band swept through. According to their sensors the wind rose from gusts of mid 40s mph to mid 70s mph and the rain was deafening on the metal roof.

Coming home this evening the wind had dropped to a normal strong breeze and was most pleasant!

I got home with a bit of a struggle, to find my back garden fence had been ripped through the middle by the wind. That's my weekend sorted.

I was out (dr's appointment 6.5 miles away) - wasn't too bad except for the lifting of bike + rack & D-lock over several fallen trees - alternative roads suitable for cyclists were also closed with fallen trees. Have cycled in worse, but managed to miss the worst of the weather/rain here. My OH said he wished he had gone to work on his bike, the queue to come home was extensive (+10 miles) and it would have been quicker for him to have cycled home than driven home.
