I was riding over to a bike maintenance workshop yesterday with the intention of sorting the Giant in preparation for sale...and I rode over something very big at around 16mph....loud noise and a couple of expletives from me!

Pulled up at the next lights, rear tyre flat...odd I thought as I had ridden over the boulder or whatever it was with the front wheel...then I looked at the front wheel...flat...oh yes, the p'fairy travels in packs!!

Ironically I was on my way to swap the tyres over on the bike which I had with me, but only one inner tube. I was with @jefmcg of this parish who kindly detoured via Halfords on the coffee run (said retailer incidentally has a 3 for 2 promotion running on tubes etc)

So, all in all it could have been worse as we were close to destination...moral of the story, look out for boulders in the middle of bus lanes

Or carry as many tubes as you have wheels  Just in case.

It was closer, we would have rather supported an independent but rather further away  I don't think Halfords are bad for essentials, it is the bike building and fettling skills of some of their mechanics which can be suspect, and as a large chain, this doesn't seem to be confined to one or two incidences. The local lads are perfectly friendly when I've picked up online purchases but I woudn't get a bike from them. I don't like the look of the Boardmans and like to buy something less ubiquitous. They are at least a British outfit

I popped into halfords today in sutton, they're friendly so far and I hope it stays like that so yeah halfords are not all that bad.

The road is not always clear, I've had to recently avoid broken glass in the road (bottle glass.) I hope it is gone now, did not ride today so i will see if it is gone by tomorrow!
