I seem to remember that badly addressed mail used to go to Belfast for them to do the redirection, used be great stories of stuff that had descriptions of a place.

When I worked as a postman I once got a letter to deliver with a hand drawn map with x marks the spot and Helensburgh the only destination. Not even a name but got the right person ok.
