Love Top Gun ... if that makes me gay, I'm out!
Colour of money's a good movie, 'Rainman' is also fab and 'A few Good Men' I can watch over and over again.
But what I really like about Cruise is that he comes-accross as a genuinely nice guy and gives a lot of time to his fans.
Tom's OK in my book.

I think he gets a bad press.

The Mission Impossible films are excellent fun. Collateral was brilliant, and I thought he was great in it. I really like The Last Samurai, but Ken Wanatabe steals every scene. Minority Report is a really, really good film. And he's very funny in Tropic Thunder, but I think he has to thank the script for that.

Like any actor he's had some turkeys, and I despise Scientology, but that's a separate issue.

Far & Away is turkeytastic, but inadvertently hilarious. Vanilla Sky is one of the worst things I've seen in years. But Minority Report was worth a go, and A Few Good Men is repellent and hugely enjoyable at the same time. I've somehow never got round to seeing Eyes Wide Shut, as I assumed it was going to be dreadful - Cruise is sort of the antithesis of the erotic for me.

Damn, you beat me to it. the script for these are Identical.

Maverick flyboy/driver proves his skill only to loose his nerve when a close colleague is injured in a related incident, fly boy/driver get his wing/wheels back and roars to victory at the last moment, whilst getting the gal.

All to cheesy elevator rock.

Mind, they are both Tony Scott films, so no big surprise.

But, I do think Cruises performance in “A few good men” is very good as is “Risky Business” (given his age and experience on that one)

Minority Report is the only film that I like with him in it. Although I think I might of liked it even more if somebody else was the lead actor. As for Top Gun there is superb flying scenes of very pretty planes, but that is about it as far as I am concerned. I could never take Cruise seriously since watching Top Gun as a kid, yet it never had that affect on me with Val Kilmer.

It's a crap film but it is one 'good thing about tom cruise films'...

I can't think of one Tom Cruise film I've not enjoyed watching. Sure, few of them are great art but I don't think that is what is intended. Splendid escapist entertainment which, for the most part, Hollywood does so well when A list 'actors' are involved.

For me, the ultimate WTF? 'actor' of the current generation has to be Nicholas Cage. Does he only appear in complete crap nowadays? If he is in it it almost guarantees the film is an awful one.
