Am I the only one who never saw any attraction in Thunderbirds?
Nope, the whole Gerry Anderson thing passed me by.

Treated myself to the boxed set of Thunderbirds a few years back. Was delighted to see it still stands up pretty well, despite the passage of nearly (edit) 50 years and by the adult me being a somewhat more sophisticated viewer. Great plots, fabulous music, superb cinematography, and (I'm not joking either) rather good acting too.

Not a bad legacy. I reckon they'll still be enjoyed in a hundred years

Probably better than the acting on Blake's 7!

Well that is damning with faint praise. Terrible acting, poor filmaking, stupid plots. I still watched 'em though

EDIT - just to be clear the above is my being pooey about B7.

Thunderbirds was sheer perfection

Pedant alert: there was no apostrophe in Blakes 7, although there should have been.

Possibly an age thing, born 1960 they were just right for me.

As a little kid, I loved all the Gerry Anderson/Century 21 stuff. The second series of Space:1999 was where the rot set in, personally (one series later than it did for the Andersons themselves), but as I was into double figures age-wise that was inevitable, I guess.

I'd rather watch The Avengers (as in John Steed) than any of them these days, though I concede that I've never seen The Secret Service (unshown in Granadaland).

One of my favourite programs from my youth, and Lady Penelope and Parker my favourite characters.

I was saddened to hear of the death of Sylvia Anderson.
I have been a fan of their creative ideas for years. Supercar, Four Feather Falls, Fireball XL5, Stingray were some of their early productions. I think Twizzle, and Torchy were also made by them.
Stingray, Thunderbirds, and Captain Scarlet was full of excitement and explosions for a young child.
The Ski Jump style take off for Fireball XL5 preceded the Ski Jump ramp fitted to our old aircraft carriers.
