I can't think of anything worse than cycling in London...please don't get hurt :blink: Google Maps is usually pretty good at differentiating cycle paths and roads etc.

@Salty seadog - when are we gonna go out next!!?

I've happily cycled in bits of London before around Westminster and the back of Waterloo. These are areas I know. I know the Euston road but not the back streets around it . Just on a time limit to get the journey done so can't be doing with getting lost which is very easy with so many streets in a small area.

We'll have to sort something out.

Yeah, plenty of time. Bikes can travel through above ground legally, so only take the underpass if you feel really comfortable doing it. IE not if it's jam packed and not if there are 2 lanes moving at 40mph. But if it's quiet (eg 7am on a Saturday) then it's a slightly better route.

I used to commute through this area, so I could show you the east-west routes in both directions south of Euston Road, but honestly, it is not worth it at the times you are travelling. Less than 2 miles, and well used by cyclists eg underpass nearly 12,000 different strava users have done it at least once. https://www.strava.com/segments/3273027

Thanks, I'm feeling a bit like this is my best plan. I'm certainly not a nervous rider just needed to know the road is ok. Bus lane nearly all the helps a lot.

Cheers for the advice.:okay:

It's easy to avoid the underpass – just take the exit slip, briefly hop off your bike to become a pedestrian at the top and then take the on-slip to rejoin the road.

As others have said, it's a pretty ok route thanks to the bus lanes. I agree with jefmcg that the trick is to adopt a very strong secondary that puts you far enough out to block passes but seems to get less hassle than you do staying in primary throughout.

At the times you will be riding it, it's nose to tail traffic anyway, so you'll mostly be going faster than the cars.

You appear to have it sorted but have a look at the cyclestreets routes here (https://cyclestreets.net/journey/58270110/#fastest) The moderate'' route might just about be followable!

Looks like a good site.

Even Saturday?

Is the right turn into Balcombe Street off Marylebone Road worth avoiding?

It looks like you need to cross the traffic to get into a filter lane.

Might be simpler to turn left into Baker Street, second right, then right into Gloucester Place, cross Marylebone Road, then nip through Dorset Square.

Well, last time I did it between 7 and 8 on a Saturday was 2013, but it was quite quiet then.

I was going to say I used the underpass, but it looks like I didn't (thank you strava)

Staying above ground, as you can see is nae bother.

Looks ok to me, there is also a pedestrian crossing there which might be easier. Avoiding crossing lanes.
