Firstly the bloke who went through the red light at lower/upper thames st and nearly hit me as mine were on green, then get to liverpool st, trains delayed due to fatality  ,then later waiting at traffic lights they turn green
its no right hand turn except for cyclists which...hey I'm on a bike.. just as I'm turning right the peds walk out in front of me I swerved round missing them only to get verbal. This the turned into a shouting match.
Bloke...Its no rh turn
Me...for cyclists it is read the big sign that tells you this
Woman....but our man was green
Me.... No it wasn't otherwise our traffic lights wouldn't be on green.
meanwhile bloke is just swearing at me
Woman....yes but you still must be careful of pedestrians
Me... I was careful thats why I didn't cycle into you
Then I lost it slightly and started shouting when are you gonna be careful when crossing the road...
Sorry for the rant just a bit wound up

Wish I could be like you and not get wound up, most of the time I don't but just occasionally I do but then I'm only human.

Watch out for daft peds...that's it.... just good courtesy.....anticipate them doing stoopid stuff.

Some fella stepped out on me some months back, noticed me blatting down the road at 20 mph plus.... I'd anticipated it and stopped, he said "whooops", I said...."Nearly"...... both went on our merry ways. Same when a fella flung open his door - I'd already stopped behind the car..... "Sorry" he said.... "No problem"... no conflict, both happy....

Try cycling where there are loads of school kids or students...you'll learn !!!

Cycling throiugh london evey day you get used to peds stepping into the road without looking this normally don't bother me but it was the way the bloke just exploded with rage when i hadn't made any remark at first.
As for schools my daughters school is 2mins from our house theres more a problem with parents driving their kids to school

There are times when you just have to let it all out.

Post confrontation I'm usually split between feeling a bit of a tool for losing it and a satisfaction that I've not allowed myself to be bullied. My favourite exchange...

School-run-mum "You've got anger management issues."
Me - "No, I've got issues about being f^&king killed!"

I also don't like to be bullied.I wonder if I was a bloke he would have exploded in the same way its probably easier to have a go at a 42yr old woman I ain't gonna get off my bike and start a fight hmm maybe I'm being a bit sexist there .
If I had called him a f*cking idiot for stepping into the road then I'd expect to get something back, but I didn't I cycled round them didn't say a word didn't tut nothing yet he exploded with rage don't see why then I couldn't stick up for myself.

He probably wouldn't have said anything had you been a man particularly a tall heavy build etc one. He's obviously a bully and a coward probably had a row with his wife about his inadequacies before he left home.

Peds aren't paying attention to road priority signs and so are taken unawares when things like this happen and can get gobby with indignation in a way they wouldn't with car drivers. Cyclists are easy targets to shout at especially women. Their opinion is best ignored.

Do you train LS to Romford ? That is a 15 mile commute otherwise. Too long for me in the mornings. Where abouts is the cycle only turn ? I can't think of one.

I do both, sometimes commute all the way by bike, other times use the folder and train.
The bit i'm talking about you come out of station go up Victoria Rd the lights are where it meets the ring road cars can go left or straight ahead cyclists can turn right into the ring road its part of the LCN that leads you into george st.There is a clear sign saying no rh turn except cyclists.

I got pursued and abused by two idiots in a white van in Romford this year. Not my favourite place.

Sorry to hear about the incident. As BentMikey was quick to point out the last time it happened to me, the Highway Code does say that cyclists should give way to pedestrians if they are on a crossing, even if it is red for them. I don't like doing it, but I do expect them to do it these days. Doesn't hurt to let off a little steam though.
