Got the job but mixed emotion

So the redundancy axe came flying through our department, took out some good people but I've just found out this afternoon that I've made it through (having re-applied for my old job).
However.
They're now talking about moving the team I'm in to a different office to bring people together a bit more, this would take my (round trip) commute from 25 miles with 1600ft of climbing up to 36 miles with 2900ft of climbing- that's a lot of work at the start and end of the day with a young family and other commitments- my commuting miles may have to take a hit but at least I have a job!

Congrats, been in the same position. Companies are crafty they will relocate future away so more employees can't make the journey and will hand in their notice. Thus reducing the head count further.

Sorry but in these times jobs are important. Being unemployed sucks.

I'd be vulnerable to relocation if my one-way commuting distance crept over 15 miles. It's nice on a good day but i'd probably not do it so often.

Commute some days, public transport on the others; i.e. 3 - bike, 2 - train ?

I quite often drive so far to work with the bike on the back and park up and ride in.

I think the car part way/ bike combo is going to be the best bet- one guy who I know drives in in the morning and rides home in the evening and vice versa but I need my car at home in the evenings. I'll just have to get slick at swapping over at where ever I leave the car (the location will also take some thinking about).
Are folders any good over hills and reasonable distance? My nearest train station is 10 miles away and would cost me just shy of £5 for the rest of the journey- which is about the same as cost of driving straight to work :S
