well done , dont leave us in suspense, whats the second business
Were hoping to open a online motorcycle and car spares store with a "normal shop" too. But thats just being looked into etc etc at the moment and might not happen or could be started and just flop.

I have one heck of a technician + apprentice who sometimes stay with me until 3am to get big jobs done. I wont turn away business full stop and i think thats where im doing well, Even if im over run ill bring in my brother or GFs brother to help out. We are at the point where we need a bigger workshop/storage space and more staff. I cant believe how far i have come and how much the business has grown in a short period of time.

None of my business but.... I'll stick my nose in anyway regarding the shop..... be careful.. I've worked in car spares a looooonnnngggggg time always as an employee...I let someone else worry about stock control, faulty returns etc.... To do it properly you need to invest a lot of money in stock and it might sit on shelf for months even years. and car models die quickly leaving you with obsolete goods. by all means idenditify common faults on the vehicles you work on and stock spares accordingly.... but my advice would be don't tie up valuable cash flow in loads of stock. I'd concentrate on growing your fantastic workshop business

This is exactly why we are only looking at/doing our research into that right now, The online store is something that will definitely be happening within the next few months and will be run separate to the workshop, selling only bike parts at first. I have roughly 15 bikes that have now been stripped down and parts waiting to be listed and sold.

Regardless of what happens, eventually we are going to need a shop premises to sell the helmets, jackets, gloves, boots, spark plugs + filters + oils, security items etc etc from, we cant carry on selling them from the workshop, its just not practical for us at the moment.

We had to have a "meeting" this evening, Were so busy were leaving the second business until after the Isle Of Man TT is out of the way, thats the only time off we will have for quite some time (even then itll be like work with 2 vans + trailers + bikes + people going ) but a second business whether it be online or in a shop is definitely going to be happening.

Fair play to you, obviously you have a great work ethic.... I'd go more with accessories as you suggest as these are less likely to become obsolete everyone one will need helmets and leathers etc and keep parts to basic service items.... I work as a branch manager in a 2 store motor factor and I've seen far too much dead stock over the years in all the different companies I've worked for..... Motorbikes may be different but cars die quickly..... I went from selling Mk1 Mondeo bits hand over fist to zero for them in less than 2 years....
