Yes and evidence please - evidence that 'a myriad + noun' is not used in educated varieties of standard English in formal contexts, this being the best criterion I can think of for evaluating claims about the acceptability or otherwise of features of (standard) English. Explanations can be wrong - there are a lots of myths about usage out there.

You are aware that I lack the authority to issue either order or edict? I, personally, don't like that usage, which was all I thought mattered in the context of this thread.

If you'd said, 'I don't like this usage,' everyone would have understood what you meant. I think if you have to explain that something is a joke, it either wasn't funny or wasn't really a joke. Anyway I'm sure you are forgiven.
Just to be clear, is that a joke?
