As long as I breathe, I attack.
Our surgery you start ringing at 8 am for that day and only that day , appointments for later dates are only available if you have seen the doc /nurse and need to comeback .

It seems they do not do a phone consult and that I need to see a doctor, not a nurse. Seems like a lot of barriers.
Can you find a surgery with a simpler sensible system?

Or tell them you are losing sensation and are concerned!

Retirees get priority at our surgery.

And at ours, I rang re my current breathing problems and saw the doctor within 90 minutes, the specialist within 14 days and I'm just back from that appointment. Thankfully all the nasty things it could have been turn out to be clear and it's 'only' my asthma out of control after 4 months of recurring infections. That is now to be sorted, but after 13 days of worry and stress I'm very, very relieved.

Although I am not a fan of the telephone lottery system my mum has managed to get emergency appointments with the doctor twice at the end of surgery and got sent to hospital directly afterwards by the GP.

Last two times I have been myself I queued half an hour early and found virtually no one else there much to the amusement of the receptionist who said people stopped the queues of 20 to 30 people years ago and just ring now. Years ago it was phone lottery plus large queue and being turned away.

The drop in centre has a terrible rep these days and people can get quite annoyed if we refer patients there.

My last GP appointment took place five weeks after my initial request. I saw a consultant ten days later. It turned out to be nothing serious at all. I would be feeling less relaxed about it if the consultant had found something sinister.

This is the silly bit to me

There are certain conditions that have time limits

The binding time limit means referral, diagnosis and initial treatment within a deadline less than it takes the patient to see their GP and get the referral

I think another surgery is on the cards, trouble is it is 10 miles away. I did tell them I was losing sensation and that it was seriously affecting sleep and work.

Call again and ask to speak to a senior dr. Or go in person at 10 tomorrow?

I went in person this morning after the call back, they have given me a sign in number for the web, mind you they also said they are realing one appointment for a week Thursday and one appointment for a week Friday. I think it might be time for a change, they are after all getting paid for having me on their list.

I had a wee white pimple thing cut off my ankle last week.
Stiches to be removed a week later.
Offered an inconvenient appointment with nurse in middle of day to remove stiches 10 days later
Told GP I'd remove them myself (same as last time I had stiches).
He gave me some wee operating tools and the deed was done this evening (in about 5 seconds).
