Greetings.

How can I merge two separately downloaded GPX files into one?

Apologies if the post is in the wrong topic.

Here's one, very simple, option. There are a fair few sites which will do this for you.

Out of interest can I ask the purpose of this? Is it to effectively splice two routes together into one longer route?

Example I forgot to charge the Garmin so when it died I recorded the rest of the ride on my phone. Spliced together to make correctly one ride.

Lefty tighty. Get it righty.
As far as I can tell, gpx files are stored in plain text. You can open it in notepad and just copy/paste the part with the coordinates and times into another gpx file.

That's always a possibility but it does open door to minor fiddly errors that cause the whole thing to go horribly wrong. It is, however, what I do when I want to merge files.

Or if they are both uploaded to ridewithgps I use the ride merge feature there. But that depends on them both being in ridewithgps.
