Grand parenting tomorrow night...

...I have my 4 year old and (almost) 2 year old grandchildren staying overnight whilst their parents are away for a couple of days.
I've had them individually but I'm expecting a tricky bedtime and early wake up.
Any advice from those more experienced welcome? I'm thinking getting me or them pissed?

One of the queries is that if I keep them up late, will they sleep in late? If not, I lose at both ends.

Ha. You are a pushover. They will walk all over you and you will love it. Get enough beers in to get through it without abandoning your duty of care, and some stronger ones for when they've gone.

Ramp up the party atmos at about 7pm, stick on some pimping sounds, invite some laydeez round, cocktails and coke on tap.

They'll get the picture and slope off to bed by 8.

Keep them busy all day. Tire them out and by 7.30 they will fall asleep within minutes. Making sure they get plenty of fresh air will help. And good luck. You will need it. A day can feel like a week

Try to keep the bedroom as dark as possible. You will be putting them to bed in broad day light and it gets light very early this time of year.
Get black out curtains.

you'll be feeding them, slip on a rusk, rick your back and be stuck lying on the floor while the four year old gets stuff for the two year old to spoon feed you until help arrives the next day.

Our two are fine if they go to bed on time, if we keep them up late it all goes downhill..
