I have one of those granny-ring hills near where I live, only a few 100m away, in fact. It ascends 61.5m over 350m distance, an average grade of just over 17.5%. The first 26m ascends 8.3m which is about 31.9% grade. I needed to use the lowest gear (which on my Vivente tourer, is a very nice 34/30 :smile:), and stand up in the saddle, because I would have tipped backwards otherwise.
