Gravel top roads

They've been laying that horrid stuff all over my local Kent lanes. Bloody dangerous until the cars clear away all the excess.

In my area we have had all the signs up for over 6 weeks now, but no work started, I hope they have run out of money

Aye - the glorious Hants County Council had a craze for surface dressing roads about 6 years ago. They surface-dressed roads, pavements, anything that was flat. As well as the short term dangers, the 'final' surface has a really nasty road buzz, just disguises potholes rather than repairs them and breaks up at the first frost. I'd hoped they'd learned their lesson as more recent resurfacings have been done properly, but no, it's back. Boo!

I have seen them sweeping up (once) with one of those road sweeper machines. I have also reported gravel on http://www.fillthathole.org.uk/ and got it swept up. On that occasion it was all the stuff that had gathered at junctions.
Put your hazard on fillthathole - at the very least the council can't claim ignorance of the hazard when you need to claim the compensation..........

I don't object hugely on minor roads if it is done properly and they actually sweep it up properly. It's a rarity that it gets done properly tbf.

What about roads that were 'historically' gravel/stone chippings?

I remember the following 2 'moor roads' being such;

1. The road from Wainstalls, to (Hebden Bridge area, West Yorkshire), by the wind farm being gravel

2. The road from Pickering over to Egton Bridge was gravel by the forested sectioms

What about roads that were 'historically' gravel/stone chippings?

They're probably difficult to cycle on too
