I have a lovely little digital camera but realised I have not used it since my last tour 18 mths ago. So next tour I am just taking my iPhone. One reason is that uploading photos to Crazy Guy on a Bike is easier.

I found this very natty tripod for my phone. Comes with a tiny Bluetooth device for taking remote shots which seems to work fine. Additionally I have downloaded an app which allows me to take multiple pics at a much longer delay than the standard camera. So should be able to get action shots very much more easily

And so cheap that even if the bluetooth packs up I still have a tripod

Snap ........I've been looking at one for my samsung galaxy s3 mini

I took a gorillapod with me last year - never used it. Although maybe if I'd carried something smaller it might have been different, but TBH I'm not the sort of person who can be arsed with all the faffing around to do action selfies. As it is I spend way to much time taking pictures.

Another thing you might be interested in is using Hyperlapse (app) to make timelapse films. The results can be fun to watch, but you need a suitable location, time of day, and weather (eg clouds moving across the sky).

I would be interested to see how you get on with it.
Very well! The result is here https://www.instagram.com/p/BD7hdfUmSyZ/?taken-by=julian_mccarthy

Propped the tripod on the side bridge and set the app to count down 60 secs then take 1 photo a second for 30 secs. I the cycled back and forth a few times and got lots of empty shots and 5 good ones. Only issue is that using the front camera I think is worse quality. Also will use watch next time so I can work out when the shooting starts

I think you have to get a full time life  -- although I have to admit - people I know that have read my journals always do the "there are not many pictures of you in it"
- should I ever get back into journal writing I have take it under advisement - fortunately my touring camera has the facility for time lapse photography

my camera has that too, but issue is uploading to CGOAB without a laptop. Losing a few mins on tour is worth it and I like a few action shots, and my famuly actively moan if they just get views of landscapes and a bike without their beloved rider on it.

The hyperlapse stuff is good. My son does it walking round with his big Canon EOS.

That's a cool little tripod. Can you not use the main camera by making sure the lens isn't obscured by the tripod support.

yes, I was using front camera as it is easier in some cases to set up looking at what is on the screen when it is front facing, but tripod also fine for the back one
