Yups. If you are blocking vehicle access to land, your car can be towed.
I thought that.. I read something a bit back that makes me doubt it.
Essentially it was saying that yes, its an offence to block a driveway if theres a car on it. It isn't the same to block that same car getting back on the drive.

The worst kind of bad parking is that outside of schools. Here's one I saw today. Not the only one, but definitely the worst.

Contact your local authority and ask for their Parking enforcement dept. Explain to them what is happening & they should ticket the offending vehicle! ( and mention the Disability Act it normally gee's them up!!!!) Its the same principle of someone blocking your 'Offical' vehicle access at home, if they are stopping you leaving then it becomes an offence (so I believe anyway:wacko:).
Yes, you're right. If they're blocking you accessing the highway (via an official drop kerb) they commit an offence. Unfortunately, there is no offence in the Act of obstructing a driveway so if they're stopping you driving onto your property you're buggered.

I would've said something to that woman .. but than again I'm like that (which is why I nearly got a punch in the face the other day when I asked a guy why he had parked in a parent and toddler space when he had no kids!).

It makes me want to get a super soaker full of break fluid and just ride down the entire line of them and let rip.

As crappy as most cycle lanes are is it not about time that they were designated no parking zones. Just how is this not the case already? It makes a complete nonsense of something that is only potentially a partial nonsense.

+1 also I would do away with the ASL too. Most drivers block them anyway and as said I also prefer just to be part of the traffic. I don't mind being stopped a few car lengths back from traffic lights.
I haven't really assessed how useful they are to me but I would have difficulty giving up the smug feeling I get when I filter up a long line of traffic and sit there at the front. Please don't take away my petty pleasures.

That is part of my commute, really bugs me that they park there like that, I normally go past between 8-8:30am and that's pretty much what its like in the street view pic. By the time I'm on my way home, the other side (the downhill section) is a lot clearer (but still not great!!).
I didn't know that they were allowed to park there legally!

Bumped as CC came up in a google search for this cycle lane. I am trying to get a decent email address to complain too. They have now yellow lined parts of this around T Junctions for visabilty issues, which is fine but it has now pushed some of the Car to park further up the A23 (still in a cycle lane) right before and during a ped safety island, meaning it is a pinch point on 40mph road, with a cyclist doing 22-28mph trying to move out of the cycle lane and in to traffic, bloody dangerous. I am getting sick of Surrey CC and their "improvements" to the A23
