I haven't yet read the thread, but Steve Redgrave bar none.
Either that or Sarah Storey
Read the entire thread, then you'll realise that your above comment is entirely irrelevant.![]()
???Because he'd now be running for the Democratic Republic of Congo - ok sherlock?
Which just goes to show how irrelevant someone's birthplace actually is. I'm surprised I had to spell that out to you, if I'm honest.
???
So he can change to British citizenship if he's born in Somalia, but if he'd have to run for the DRC?
Why represent countries you weren't born in, and don't live in?
That is why I said I had yet to read the thread, I knew there would be some terrible trick!!
This hits the nail on the head. It used to be an honour and a privilege to represent your country, it's now just another business decision in all sports. I've no idea if Farah truly considers himself British, but either way, i don't see how you can consider him the 'greatest' anything....yet!Frankly the athletes flying flags of convenience make the whole athletics scene redundant. Why represent countries you weren't born in, and don't live in?
Was she a track athlete?I despair.
this is what happens when pedantry meets reality.I despair.
I'm with you - I find it hard to understand why people can't just race for the country they were born in, or if circumstances change, race for the country they live in. Makes it even harder when they don't even do that.I despair.
p.s. OT, it písses me off that there are a number of Kenyans running for Turkey under a flag of convenience in the European Champs.
