Usually always I point out pot holes. One particular section of road looked like a runway busting cluster bomb had been dropped on it. Then some guy moaned for not pointing at one he fell into.
He also went on to say when you’ve finally got an expensive bike & wheels you’d care a lot more. So basically saying I’m on cheap rubbish but I’m still easily riding away from his 10 grand Trek.
You can’t see every hole on the front. I think people behind still have a responsibility to watch the road.
If you have expensive equipment & are scared of going into pot holes on uk roads then cycling may not be for you.

If you're pointing out most then don't worry.

And if he's so concerned about his expensive bike then I'd politely point out that he's welcome to do the whole ride on the front.

I pointed them out until there was about 20 per square yard.

At that point which is typical of the UK, all you can do is give a general safety warning "Pot Holes Everywhere" and point out ones that you think are particularly dangerous. I wouldn't be too concerned about comfort, just the safety of the group (which includes me).

I know, I’ve never known anybody crash because of a pothole though. Hit some big ones but been ok & never I’ve damaged wheels or frame.

He needs to spend a few quid at spec savers then. You can't always spot every hole, that's how it goes - he wasn't following your rear wheel properly.

I told him to follow my path I’m picking out & not ride in the gutter where it’s worse. Then he said he was to the right of me so he should have followed the wheel or seen the hole if on the right of me. Complete plonker.

If you've gave him a clear message/ warning its completely on him. Folk have said to me in the past, 'follow my wheel' in similar circumstances but I've ridden to the side and further back to have better visibility. I've never hit a bad pothole in that situation 🤞 but if I had I couldn't blame the person who had gave me a warning :-/
