Hi all,
I'm in need of some advice. I'm in the process of fixing up my old hybridized Giant boulder 2007 which is slightly battered gearwise the rest is in near enough perfect nick. I really want to replace the bb/ crank, both derailleurs, cassette, and chain. Problem is I never quite wrapped my head around gearing other than some basic front derailleur adjustment.
Currently the bike has all 8sp components: altus rear mech, 050 sis front, Shimano altus 42/32/22 crankset, square taper bb, and I dont know what shimano cassette 8spd.
I want to replace it all with:
Shimano Alivio M412 Top Swing 7/8sp Front Mech £14.99
Shimano Alivio M410 7/8 Speed Rear Mech £18.99
Shimano Deore M590 Triple Chainset 175mm - 22.32.44t - 68/73mm - Black £49.99
SRAM PG850 8 Speed MTB Cassette Each - 11-32 £15.99
SRAM PC850 8 Speed Chain Each - 114 Links £8.99
Will all these work together? I think I saw on a chart somewhere the deore crankset was not 8spd compatible but have seen elsewhere that they are. Also as I don't have all the tools required for such a job so my friendly LBS owner said he would install any parts for quite a reasonable service charge.
Any advice from all you knowledgeable peoples would be greatly appreciated.
