I took the bus to college today and on my way home, I was going to meet my dad from the bus station. I was walking against the one way system when a white Mercedes passes me with the driver on the phone. I pointed at him and sternly said "Off the phone" as driving whilst on the phone is one of my pet hates with people.
He didnt look at me or take any notice of me so I carried on walking and didnt really think much else of it (apart from the fact that he will kill someone one day). Amazingly though he came around the corner ahead of me, still on the phone. However this time he gave me the bird. (So lets get this straight: One hand with phone to ear, other hand swearing at me, who is driving the car?).
He then stopped behind my but I carried on walking. This guy clearly has a few problems and doesnt even care for his own safety.

I dont normally shout out at cars but I had seen that many people on the phone that day that I just felt the urge to say something before he headed into the centre of town where there were lots of kids.
Whilst cycling I normally just take note of the person on the phone and if I see someone at a set of lights, just stare at them. Today I probably did the wrong thing shouting at him but the message needs to get through to these people that it isnt acceptable to drive whilst on the phone.

How much does it cost to Oldham?
Bloke in car on phone shocker.

Whatever next? The smell of skunk weed emanating from a builders' van?

Cerrrazy.

Matthew, I think you should join the Police force; you have the right moral attitude but need some back-up.
Its a shame that Wales has kept some of its ethnicity over the years. The Welsh language still seems to be big, even in North Wales which is full of people from Manchester and Liverpool.
When I move to England I might become a PCSO. Who knows?

You did exactly what I would of done most of the time. I did the same today in the works van. Stopped at traffic lights next to a van I'd been following for a while whilst the driver was clearly on the phone.

He took one look at me and the works van, looked puzzled as to who I was to tell him to put the phone down bitbthen did so anyway.

Imo the world needs more people to stand up to these little wrongdoings in order for something to change. Afterall, the police can't be everywhere.
