Häfele cabinet hinges, to fit in a 35mm cup, come in two different drilling patterns. Previously I've just bought replacements and they fitted without any difficulty. Yesterday I needed to replace 3 hinges on a folding cabinet door, and found that the old ones were 45 / 9.5, i.e. screw holes to hold the hinge need to be 45mm apart and 9.5mm away from the centre line of the 35mm cups, while the new ones were 48 / 6. Had to take the door off to drill new holes, and found that the kitchen fitter had not only misaligned the cups, albeit slightly, but had also fitted two of the base plates on the cabinet chassis in wrong positions, so that the hinges had always been out of alignment. No wonder they had failed! Plugged the old base plate holes with hand cut dowels, drilled new ones and fitted everything together. After some adjustments the door works better than it ever had, so all is well in the Manoir du Braconnier, at least for the time being.

Well done @Poacher! I have a giant hardback Hafele trade catalogue from over twenty years ago. Their range of lay-on hinges is utterly bewildering.
