Don't forget to kiss the badge.Slide on your knees if you ever score a goal.Swear your loyalty to the club.Because very soon your manager will fall out with you.Banish you to train with the juniors and never pick you.
A certain Prem Manager is 'aving a moan that his defender who he no longer wants, will not leave the club.

Well would you £90,000 a week.

He's 'aving a larf e is.All the way to the bank.Would you leave dropping out of the Prem into knowhere and a lot less money.Maybe he knows he has lost the joy of playing he was crap on loan at another club.So he is sitting tight and collecting his money.
Football loyalty as is said - my arse.

You are indeed talking about Wayne Bridge/Man City.

Now this is one of the reasons I gave up my season ticket to Chelsea after gawd knows how many years. Premier league football has got completely out of control.

I wouldn't be surprised if, in the case of Wayne Bridge, there's more to the story. For some weird reason, I found myself feeling quite concerned for him when I read Mancini's comments.

I have lost a lot of interest in football over the last few years, (not all to do with my team being crap )
I see lads at work struggling to pay bills but still managing to find money to go and watch City or United every week, those players are on 100,000+ and those poor saps are paying their wages

Man City have no cause for complaint, they gave the guy a contract and he's honouring it. If you use your financial muscle to nick all the best players you can't complain if you end up stuck with them.

Blackburn can't play one of their players as it would trigger a new contract award - so he's been away on gardening leave.

I'd forgotten all about Winston Bogarde. I remember at the time thinking that I could understand what he was doing, despite the outrage. I did pretty much the same thing for near on a year in my last salaried position. Hated it, but turned up and did (well, tried to do) what was required. I knew I wouldn't get a better paid job!

That's nothing, City are paying Tevez £250,000 a week for doing bugger all (apart from when they're fining him for being nawty)

I still find the game rivetting to watch - at Premiership, Championship and even League 2 level.

But all the money has changed things off the pitch. The funny thing is, we were once interested only in what went on on the pitch - and usually only at 'our' club.

Now, the media (and 'lovers of football') expect me to be able to name the players' children, their injury record, know their salary, the car they drive, where they got married, who their agent is. It's all a bit silly, really.

But the football played professionally in the UK is of a wonderful standard and very entertaining.

I remember Aldiles, Villa, Molby, Cantona, Yeboah, Ravanelli, Bergkamp, Anelka et al coming over through the years. Each added his own little bit of lustre (maybe not Molby) but in these days of teams with one British player those great names might barely register on the mind.

These are wonderful times for the football TV viewer. Ticket prices are obscene, but clearly people are keen (stupid) enough to pay them. I see two or three Prem games a year and a few League 2.

It's still a wonderful game.
