My alarm got set off again yesterday at the gym. The little sh** kicked the back wheel before running off so I had an uncomfortable ride home and I had to spend an hour putting in 4 new spokes and trueing up the wheel. Fortunately the rim is OK. I had bad thoughts about what I'd have liked to do with the broken spokes though.

At least I've still got the bike, that place is known for bike thefts so I'm better off than some.

What alarm do you have? That padlock thingy Aldi have?

Last week in town, as usual I D locked through the frame and cable locked through the front wheel to a Sheffield bike stand . When I came back 30 mins later, I noticed a bike ( quite a bit nicer than mine ) the other side of the stand, locked with one of those crappy £5 cable jobs. As I stowed my locks away I felt smug in the knowledge that if a thief came along, he would have been far more likely to take this other bike as the cheap lock would have been a doddle to break.
Then I tried to get on my bike and couldn't. The peanut had managed to thread his cable around one of my seat stays. For f**ks sake! It may have been a crappy £5 one but it had me stuffed. After five minutes I gave up on it, relocked mine and went for a brew in a cafe around the corner. Came back half an hour later and he was gone.
He probably didn't even know what he'd done.

Bad sales pitch on the first one, the bic biro trick hasnt worked in years. Also I doubt most bike thefts are the grab-and-go type but more like bikes being stolen because of their value or even to order.
