Had some good news today

After being knocked off my bike back in June and braking my arm I got an email from the solicitor today saying that the van driver has finally admitted liability and I will be getting a cheque in the next few days for the wheels I had to replace and they are getting someone to check me over from some medical company. All seems to be going in the right direction now thankfully

That is good news my good news is my consultant has signed me off from the fracture clinic when I was offed in August and broke my elbow and wrist (unfortunately for me no witnesses and the bugger drove off - they were behind me)

I found out the other day that the insurance company that covers the driver that hit me takes 3 months to go through the process of looking through the situation. real pain in the ass.

Result ! Mine is progressing finally but i know i will have a long wait to get it all sorted even though the Police got him to admit to the hit.

Sly ! How do they think they are going to get away with it ??? I would never dream of going against a Police statement....i'd be crapping it !

He tried telling them that I road into him on a roadabout but not sure if it was him saying it or the insurance company making it up

My Dad's was similars...quite a few years before any payout.

I had a very simple claim, immediately agreed by their insurance. It took 9 months for the money to arrive. Which is Fast. That's just how long these things take. One of the major delays is that you can only claim for injury once, and this has to account for all of your injuries. Hence the claim can only proceed when you are fully recovered. Even a cracked bone takes several weeks.

The good side is that interim payments can happen, which should see you on the road again.

My accident, driver admitted liability straight away, which meant that within 6 weeks the bike damage and some physio was paid for. Then after about another 7 months I got some more cash for physio treatment..... - still owed £1k for physio....

NHS no longer interested....could take a few years for nerve damage to heal, shoulder still sore, especially with cold weather...

I finally get to see an independant consultant in a couple of weeks - 12 months after my off - this one is for the claim damages, and I'll be asking his opinion on long term effects.

Do expect the final settlement, and to be able to sweep the incident aside, in way over 12 months. Don't expect quick results.... if the NHS is involved...it will take forever.... in my case 5 months to get an MRI, 7 months to get results, 10 months to be signed off by the pain clinic... "use it or lose it" was the answer.

Glad your interim payments are coming through - it's a 'load' off your mind and 'pocket'.

I must admit it will be good to replace the money I had to use to get the new wheels. I have had a claim before when a lorry side swiped the wife on the motorway when i was passenger so wont be holding my breath for the rest of the money to come through.
