Bugger...happened to me last year - frozen freehub - it froze in freewheel mode as I pushed the bike to the main road..... had to push home, get changed, de-ice the car...

By the time I'd changed, the freehub was unfrozen....argh.

PS riding fixed now - nothing to freeze....

During my commute last winter I got some snow stuck in my rear mech which then froze. Had to get to work with only one gear, luckily it wasn't a tough one.

I've managed to screw my elbow up a little (It's was swollen to the size of a grapefruit on Sunday!) so was relegated to the TRAIN! yesterday as I couldnt drive anything.

Drugs started to work yesterday afternoon and after a good nights sleep I've managed to come in on the motorbike (in a very stiff fashion)..I had to remove the armour from my jacket sleeve just to get it on!

I'd rather that agony, then the agony of a train.

What with the holidays coming, I'm going to need to do some serius work in the comming weeks to get in the miles on Chitty this month:sad:

......looks away guiltily...more than one bike- who would do such a thing?!

Sorry to hear about the bike Mr P - hope driving wasn't too traumatic

Jonny - I feel your pain - still on public transport - hope your elbow is ok

Walked in this morning - didn't trust myself on the ice and begrudge the £1.20 bus fare ;)

Froze my ass off though

The joys of Fixed

Heh.... - although I suppose the brake cables could freeze....but still have leg braking to stop...

Back to Hackers - yeh had two spare bikes (now 3) when the freehub froze but they aren't really geared up for commuting - wet bum / too icy. My MTB would be OK. Might get to try the Trans Pennine all the way to work if we have 6ft snow drifts, that would be fun..... although I doubt 'the boss' would not be happy.

Don't you keep your commuting bike indoors over winter ?

I know we have a utility room so we don't go out the backdoor in winter so i can keep my bike in from october to march ish.
