In the process of planning our annual cycle trip Hadrians is our preferred option can any recommend B@B or pub accom..Another question I would like to ask is my current bike is a Giant hybrid crs with 700x35 tyres, at 70 yrs of age I feel this is a heavy bike for me, tend to do more pushing up the hills than I used to do, my options either change the bike Edinburgh cycles had one I fancied the tourer for 400 pounds (in the sale) option to fit a lower gear set to my bike, your comments would be appreciated, final thought could I fit 700x32 tyres

The route is largely flat or gently undulating. There was only one steepish climb but it's not a long one. Fitting narrower tyres will not make that much difference. I was apprehensive when I purchased a replacement bike mid tour in France it had 35mm tyres and I'd been riding 28mm. My fears about increased drag were unfounded. Look at changing your rear cassette to an 11-34 toothed one. It will make things easier for you.

Watch out on the Hadrians Wall Cycle Way. The official way marked route goes off on a couple of useless tangents just East of Carlisle apparently this was to get the mileage up.

Not sure what mileage your are planning on & where you plan to stop each day, I did it last year with a friend & we stopped in Silloth 1st night, cant remember B&B name, but out of season the place was dead, only 1 pub serving food & only 1 pub serving cask ale 
2nd night we stayed at Four Wynds @ Greenhead. Nigel was a great host & picked us up from the local after we'd eaten & drunk enough, but the rooms & in particular the en-suite were rather small & me being 6'5" it wasnt great
Also when setting off from Greenhead in the morning (heading East) you start the day with a rather steep climb, which nearly encouraged my breakfast to make another appearance

I would have thought a tourer with 28 x 700 tyres would be fine. I use mine on the rough tracks around here with no probs. Less rolling resistance and better gear spread.
Just like to thank everyone for their comments, plenty of options for acc., thanks Vernon for the advice on the bike will go for the rear cassette. We have fixed a date for our trip will be travelling West on Friday 31st. May from Northumberland, there will be 5 cyclists if anyone is planning a the ride about that time, there will be plenty of room in the mini bus we have been quoted 150 pounds, anybody know of any transport companises that specilise in cycle transport in the North East

First night at Wheyrigg Hall near Abbeytown. It was fine, decent food but a bit dated. They let us store the bikes in their store room.
Second night at the Coach House in Bardon Mill. This was the best B&B I've ever stayed at! Great breakfast. Nice owners, who gave us a lift into Haltwhistle to find food.
